Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative: 


Tinga Legends offers a service without compromising the ecological integrity of the Kruger National Park. Tinga Legends ensures that the community benefits from the business's activities. A bi-annual Environmental Audit is conducted on Tinga Legends; this is unique to the concessions in the Kruger national Park. Tinga legends achieve 96% rating in the environmental audit. The Audit covers the following: water management- water allocation is limited daily; laundry is out sourced and is handled off site; water quality is tested monthly. Bed occupancy- bed occupancy is controlled daily; waste is recycled; waste is removed off site as burying of rubbish is strictly prohibited. Fuel- storage as well as usage is controlled and stored in tanks to prevent leakages as well as spillages. Power supply- cables are underground and energy efficient globes are used. Firewood- firewood may not be taken from the natural bush and is sourced from a sustainable source therefore not adding to the demolition of the natural indigenous bush. Fire management- fire breaks are conducted by the National Park. Road management- it is prohibited to drive on certain soil types during the rainy season to prevent soil erosion therefore specific roads are closed during the rainy season to prevent any damage to the environment.

Tinga Legends uses every opportunity to support disadvantaged groups by creating business opportunities and employing the people in the community of the Kruger National Park. This includes Tinga Legends employing people from the local community and training them.

Tinga Legends has a charitable trust, the under privileged in the local communities of the Kruger National Park benefit from this charity. The trust is audited annually to ensure the funds are applied efficiently.

Tinga Legends supports the Endangered Wildlife Trust's Large Bird Project. This project ensures healthy environments in which raptors and vultures can live in with mankind. Tinga Legends also supports the Endangered Wildlife Trust's Carnivore Conservation Group which in conducts census's of the wild dogs and cheetahs, with the South African National Parks, contributing to the long term conservation of these carnivores.
